A new award has been announced by IHCAN magazine in memory of the late Heather Rosa, the Dean of the Institute of Optimum Nutrition (ION).
The Heather Rosa IHCAN Tutor of the Year Award is a partnership between ION and IHCAN, a magazine published by Target Publishing, which also publishes Health Food Business. The award is designed remember Heather by recognising the often-unsung people at the heart of practitioner education – the tutors.
A contributing editor to IHCAN, Heather was renowned for her tireless support of ION students and her political activism in pursuit of professional excellence and recognition for the profession. Heather died unexpectedly in July. ION will officially announce the award at the Heather Rosa Tribute and Mitochondria – Cellular Motherboard Seminar being held at BMA House, London, on October 30.
ION CEO, Chris Mansi, commented: “ION is delighted to have IHCAN’s support in keeping Heather’s memory alive in a way she would have appreciated.”
David Cann, MD Target Publishing, added: “Heather’s drive to improve practitioner education was an inspiration for us at IHCAN. We’re honoured to help ION keep up the momentum.”
IHCAN has initially committed to fund the award for three years. ION students will nominate and vote for their Tutor of the Year. The winner receives £500-£750 toward CPD or research and the magazine will put up a further £750-£1,000 to the Heather Rosa Bursary Fund.
