The NAHS has expressed its delight and honour at winning an award for its efforts in promoting health and wellbeing to the public.

The UK Health Radio Outstanding Contribution to Health and Wellbeing Award (Industry) went to the NAHS and its dedicated commitment in working on
behalf of members of the public who wish to exercise their right to choice in health care, access to traditional plant and natural health products and best advice for their use.

In honouring the association, the awards organisers said it recognised that this can be best secured by the availability and positive promotion of our independent health stores who facilitate the circulation of what works in natural medicine and products and so enable members of the public the ability to chose how they care for their health and wellbeing.

“We also recognise that good health stores and support of these contribute to the availability of remedies and treatments by providing local centres, where they can be accessed together with the best standards of advice and that this also supports the manufacturers and distributors of natural health products across the UK and further afield,” they said.

“Good independent health stores are integral to the whole natural health industry, the work of practitioners and the availability for the public to choose and access natural health care and remedies and their continued availability as demonstrated in the work carried out by the NAHS for kava kava and additionally its dedicated commitment in working against the European Food Supplements Directive.”

The NAHS committee is made up of Gary Trickett, at Chairman, of Healthy Route, Roger Oliver, from Healthright, Wendy Atkinson, of Modern Herbals, Cheryl Thallon, from Sheaf Street Health Store, Wayne Godden, from Moorey’s Health Store, Joanne Hill, of Amaranth, Zoe West, of Holbeach Healthstore, and John Brear, from Nelson Nutrition.

The committee told Health Food Business: “The NAHS is both delighted and honoured to accept this award, which recognises the selfless hard work our dedicated committee of health store owners have contributed to promote and protect the interests of their fellow retailers.”
