Two organisations are offering businesses support on dealing with changes to food rules around allergens and labelling.
From December 13, under Food Information Regulations, all food businesses including restaurants have had to provide information on the presence of 14 potential allergens in ingredients of food that is not pre-packed.
In light of this, The Institute of Food Safety, Integrity and Protection (IFSIP) has produced an interactive PDF, while the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) is producing a new qualification in developing allergen awareness, with a new classroom based qualification ‘Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness’ and e-learning module, ‘Serving the Allergic and Food Intolerant Customer’.
IFSIP‘s PDF is beneficial to SMEs to help with what is needed to understand the new regulation.
